Even the best-made costumes take a beating. Fabrics stretch, embroidery threads loosen, and leather straps dry out. A missing button might seem small, but leave it long enough and you’re one movement away from an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction.

August is the perfect time to check your kit:

• Inspect seams and stitching for any loose threads.
• Check fastenings (ties, buttons, and buckles) and replace anything strained.
• Look at weathered areas like cuffs, hems, and shoulder seams.
